Omega Harmony provides revolutionary support for Healthy Joints and Airways with a patented, clinically proven marine extract that is natural, stabilized and 100% safe with no side-effects!
Recently, the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University in Australia (RMIT University) completed 15 years of research on isolating the active lipids within the New Zealand Green Lipped Mussel, perna canaliculus. Headed by internationally renowned bio-medical research scientist Professor Robert Borland, the project produced a remarkably potent compound named "Lyprinol®", the active ingredient in Omega Harmony.
Studies using Omega Harmony’s active ingredient have shown positive results in relieving arthritic conditions by inhibition of the principal human inflammatory pathway known as "the lipoxygenase pathway". The lipoxygenase pathway has been long recognized by researchers as the major pathway of operation for many inflammatory diseases, including arthritis and asthma.
For generations the native coastal Maori population of New Zealand has consumed raw New Zealand green lipped mussels as a primary part of their diet. For centuries, this mussel has provided an excellent source of protein, vitamins, minerals and extremely valuable Omega-3 fatty acids.
The Maoris would harvest the mussels growing naturally on seashores and eat them raw. Even though they saw the mussel as an important part of the Maori diet, the wonderful medical benefits achieved from the mussel were only recently discovered.
The green lipped mussel possesses a profile of essential Omega-3 fatty acids unique to its species. The presence of this rich source of essential fatty acids provides the mussel with potent anti-inflammatory properties. Until now these benefits were only available when the mussel was consumed fresh and raw.
Surveys in New Zealand show that coastal dwelling Maoris, who regularly consumed the mussel as part of their diet, suffer far less from the painful symptoms of arthritis than their inland dwelling relatives.
As the medical properties of shellfish began to be better understood, a major research project using the New Zealand Green Lipped Mussel, as well as other shellfish from around the world, was conducted in 1970 the United States of America to discover a cure for various diseases.
The anti-inflammatory properties of the Green Lipped Mussel were soon discovered, however, early study results were erratic and no consistent results could be determined. As research progressed, the molecular structure of the live mussel was analyzed.
Researchers discovered that any processing procedure, such as extreme heat, freeze drying or refrigeration without a stabilization or anti-oxygenation process promoted oxidation of the active molecular components responsible for reducing inflammation within humans. This oxidation process was determined to be responsible for dramatically reducing the mussel’s potency.

As research continued, it became clear that the concentrated mussel powder’s anti-inflammatory properties was highly effective at preventing the pain normally associated with joint discomfort and asthma. However, only recently has independent research at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University identified a process that enabled the live mussel’s anti-inflammatory potency to be extracted into a supplement form with equally powerful effects. The process for stabilizing and extracting these compounds was patented and resulted in the natural supplement named Lyprinol®, the main ingredient of Omega Harmony.
Before this revolutionary patent, most mussel powders displayed conflicting results in efficacy studies due to the oxidation and deterioration of their beneficial non-polar lipids. Omega Harmony’s ingredients display no conflicting results in it efficacy; meaning you get the full benefits of this amazing, all natural product!
Omega Harmony’s base ingredient is a patented marine lipid group comprising a unique combination of different non-polar lipid groups and Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. The revolutionary, patented extraction process uses a supercritical fluid extraction process with liquid CO2.

Many scientists and government institutions around the world agree that the average western diet is very high in another group of fatty acids, namely Omega-6s. As a result, our cell membranes are unusually rich in precursors associated with inflammatory processes which can lead to arthritis, psoriasis and asthma, to name a few.
The anti-inflammatory properties of Omega Harmony’s active ingredient have been examined by research scientists at RMIT University, Adelaide University & the University of Queensland .
According to this research, Omega Harmony’s ingredients are an effective anti-inflammatory agent. The unique grouping of Omega fatty acids in Omega Harmony’s ingredients is a potent inhibitor of the lipoxygenase pathway, where leukotrienes are produced. Research shows that individuals with diets rich in high potency EPA's have less joint discomfort as they age.

In recent years, interest has increased regarding lipid compounds which have emerged as valuable nutritional substances. One group of these is the polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). These fatty acids are named by identifying the number of carbon atoms in their molecule and indicating the number of their double, or unsaturated, bonds. For instance, scientists call a PUFA with eighteen carbons and three double bonds as 18:3. Some well known sources of PUFAs are the unsaturated cooking oils such as sunflower, canola and soybean oil. Fish oils that have been researched for their ability to reduce cholesterol and improve heart and circulatory system health also contain PUFAs.

Two categories of PUFAs that have received a lot of attention relative to human nutrition are the Omega 6 and Omega 3 PUFAs. Omega 6 PUFAs are contained in all vegetable oils. Omega 6s are almost totally made up of linoleic acid (18:2) and its derivatives. Some of the Omega 6s are considered more valuable, such as GLA (gamma linolenic acid, 18:3), found in evening primrose and borage oils. Omega 3s are found to a limited degree in some plants, but are contained in all fish and shellfish. For instance, canola and flax oils contain alpha linolenic acid (18:3). The Omega 3 PUFAs contained in fish are considered to be five to ten times more powerful in their biological activity than those found in plants.
It is acknowledged by the medical community that the western diet provides more Omega-6 PUFAs than Omega 3 PUFAs. This leads to our cellular membranes becoming rich in Omega 6s, such as arachidonic acid. This acid is a precursor to certain molecules that can cause inflammation associated with arthritis, psoriasis and asthma to name a few. Many studies have reported that certain lipids from fish and other marine sources can have a beneficial effect on our overall health when they a staple part of one’s diet.
The Omega Harmony ingredient is a mixture of five main lipid classes including sterol esters, triglycerides, free fatty acids, sterols and polar lipids. There are approximately 8-10 different marine sterols in the sterol esters and sterol fractions. It also contains more than 30 different essential fatty acids which are mixtures of saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids.
Omega Harmony is a source of long chain omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids which are essential for health in humans. The two main omega-3 PUFAs present in Omega Harmony are eicosapentaenoic acid (20 carbons and 5 double bonds, shorthand =20:5 omega-3) (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (22:6 omega-3) (DHA).
It also contains several other fatty acids which belong to the omega-3 PUFA family. These fatty acids all have four double bonds and have carbon chain lengths of 18, 19 and 20 carbon atoms, respectively, thus they are described as 18:4 omega-3 (18:4n-3), 19:4 omega-3 and 20:4 omega-3 (ETA).

Research in Australia and Japan proved that the then currently available freeze-dried powder was unstable and a stabilized process to protect the activity was developed and patented by Biomex Australia. This mussel powder should not be confused with any of the currently available mussel powder products sold in the UK and Europe, including those produced by McFarlane New Zealand under the brand name Seatone
